[close] The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure is a suspenseful WWII book with a slightly different twist. The protagonist is a self-centered architect who changes over the course of the novel. He wasn’t overly likeable at the beginning but by the end you were cheering for him. The story was quite interesting and makes you wonder if things like it actually happened during the war. Lucien Bernard was approached by a wealthy businessman to create hiding places for Jews in various apartments. The suspense at times was nail biting wondering if the Jews were going to be found. This was the author’s first book and I would definitely read another book by him.
