I'm surprised by how much I liked this. It was slow and it dragged a little and the mystery was a bit sloppy and the villain was meh and Adrien's inner monologue could be irritating—if you let it.
But still, I can't describe how much I loved the writing. I now understand why some people claim they would read the telephone directory if a certain author wrote it. Well, when it comes to m/m crime/mystery/romantic suspense, I'll read whatever Lanyon writes.

This is my second read through as I've picked up the lastest couple books in the series and decided to re-read the first ones.
I just love Adrien. He seems like such an unlikely "hero". He ends up in such terrible situations and though it seems to start out as a "wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time", it soon becomes clear there is a much deeper connection between Adrien and what is happening.
And what is there to say about Jake? He is so deep in the closet he just cannot even imagine hi ...more

I have loved mysteries since my mother gave me my first Nancy Drew book in the second grade and my love for them continues. When I can find a good mystery combined with an m/m story I am a really happy person. This is the story of Adrien, a bookstore owner, whose friend and co-worker is found murdered in an alley.
