After reading The Fault in Our Stars, I wanted to read other books written by John Green. I found the 10th edition of Looking for Alaska in a bookstore in Greece while vacationing.
I both loved and not-so-much loved Looking for Alaska, and such a wide range of reasons. First off, though, it is a well written and *mostly* creative novel. A beautiful little YA with some well-rounded characters that form some pretty great relationships (Colonel and Pudge!). Explores a lot of the BIG questions in a thoughtful way. Also, I don't know how to write this review without spoiling things, so I won't. Ha!
I will say, however, that I tend to read books on the bus to and from work. Normally that isn't an issue, but in this case, at about halfway through the book, I should've stopped with that approach, pulled out a cup of tea, and just stayed ...more
