What Members Thought

It was pretty good.. I hadn't had any expectations going in, which was good. I like the story, but to start (to build the full world) it went a little slow while they set the stage. Finally, when it was all set it was nice to finally get to all the action and the end.
the next book sounds great...now just to get my daughter to read it so we can go to the movie!! ;D ...more

Thanks to my daughter I've finally started reading this series. It's been on my tbr for a bit now.
Fun easy read with just the right amount of fantasy to it. I love the aspect of the Greek gods in the storyline.
Quite enjoyable and looking forward to reading the series. ...more

I don't do YA, usually it just bores me, but after seeing the movie I wanted to read the book. The whole the book is usually better than the movie thing. Boy was I right about that. The writing grabs you right from the get go

Percy Jackson is a student with ADHD and dyslexia who discovers his problems are due to the fact that he is the son of Poseidon. The gods believe Percy has stolen Zuse's lightning bolt and to prevent war Percy goes on a quest to retrieve the bolt. I enjoyed the depiction of the gods and the three main characters. I look forward to reading more in the series.

This has been on my TBR shelf for a very long time, and I'm glad I finally got to it. It's a wonderful adventure story for middle schoolers and their families.

This is a fun, entertaining, and clever little series that never goes too deep or gets too suspenseful. Not as well done as Harry Potter, but I think I would have liked them when I was younger and it is a fun way to learn about Greek and Roman mythology

This book was really fun. I liked how Mr. Riordan weaved Greek mythology into the modern world. Percy is a great main character and I plan to continue on with more of his adventures.
