What Members Thought

A dark fantasy that tells the story of five 'daughters' of fictional 19th century men who experimented with the means to change, extend, and/or give life, such as Dr Jekyll and Dr Frankenstein. These unlikely heroines each tell their own stories (and how they came together), including the solving of the Jack the Ripper murders. I enjoyed the format and how they all chimed in when they had something to say.

Picked up this books at the library on the recomendation of a friend. I was thinking I would find a cozy type mystery instead I found a book that was fast moving with many twists and turns. The format was different then I am use to and took some getting use to but once I adjusted to that, the rest of the book was an absolutely beautiful read.

Not more, because I said a LOT of OMGs. A lot.
So... this is sort of The League of Extraordinary Teenaged Gentlewomen.
The idea is great! Finding the characters of her Athena Club was well done. I mean; Mary Jekyll, Diana Hyde, Beatrice Rappaccini, Catherine Moreau and Justine Frankenstein! I hadn't even heard of Rappaccini's Daughter! or poor little Justine Moritz... I have to admit I hadn't read any of these books, but y ...more
