Read this one as part of a challenge. I chose fictional, easy version of Illiad. Still get to know about Achilles, and the 10+ years war to rescue Helen or avenge kidnapping Helen, whichever way we want to look at.

Boy, are these Greek Gods petty, selfish and quick to feel insulted or what! These gods and their petty politics and their demands for sacrifice (eye roll)

I enjoy reading Mythology Fiction. Madeline Miller does such a good job of making the characters feel real. The song of Achilles is a quick read but tends to be slow and a little boring at parts. I enjoyed the characters and the overall story. I think I will read more of her books in the future.

Wow! I have loved Greek mythology for my whole life, but this really takes it to a new level. I just love her writing. I wish all love stories were written this well!

This was a strange read for me. I picked it up and put it down and picked it up and put it down. It just isn’t my sort of read.

This is a retelling of the Trojan war that is easy to read and beautifully heartbreaking. The Song of Achilles is told from the perspective of Patroclus, a seemingly weak mere mortal who befriends Achilles. He basically paints the human side of Achilles, who is half-God. Knowing the end of the story makes it even more tragic.
