This book reminds me of a less funny, but better written Magyk. It probably deserves a better rating, but I just didn't like any of the characters, so I couldn't do it.
I will listen to the next book to see what happens. I'm glad I listened to this book rather than read it.
Likes:
* Changing point of view between Nathaniel and Bartimaeus
* Bartimaeus is sarcastic and self absorbed, but funny and sort of likeable
* Interesting setting of magic, demons and magicians in the modern world with computers a ...more

Reading it again. So funny. Nathaniel is a character you can empathise with and Bartimaeus is hilarious. Stroud is so good making you feel like you are really there. Feel like I am really on a train platform when I read: The train limped off as if it were going to die under a hedge. I can hear it and smell it. And it made me laugh.
