Shelves: suspense, dystopian

I absolutely loved this novel! I really enjoy her style of writing, and she does a fantastic job of creating twists and reveals that make the novel fun and exciting. Quite a few times I would laugh out loud and say “Holy plot twist!” and then have to explain to my husband what happened. There were a few parts that seemed a little slow to build, but it was definitely worth it as everything came together. She’s definitely becoming one of my favorite authors!

Shelves: audiobook, mystery-thriller, europe, france, thriller, suspense

Barely three stars. A semi-decent story but melodramatic and with a seriously stupid ending. I really dislike the very common sequence found in books like this:

My senses are tingling. I know something bad is about to happen.
There is something bad in front of me. I don't want to look at it.
I must look at it.
But I don't want to look at it.
I force myself to look at it.
Yep, it's bad.

Also, where the heroine is very smart until she needs to be very stupid to move the plot along.
