This was an interesting switch for Ng. This dystopian story reminded me of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close mixed with Handmaid’s Tale.

The beginning was a bit slow, and the fact that Ng chose not to use quotation marks annoyed me. However, Ng’s writing is beautiful, and her dystopia was frightening.
