This was a fun pirate story - with a retired infamous female pirate pulled out of retirement to chase down a kidnapped young girl. But things aren't always as they seem. I liked Amina and her crew. I especially love the history with her first mate, her poisoner and her navigator. Their banter was really cute.

But I'm sad I didn't just love love love this like so many others. It felt long, and like it took 2 or 3 long turns around areas that I didn't need in the story. It lost me around halfway a ...more

I really really wanted to love this one but for one reason or another, I just was not engaged. It took me over a month to read with only a few chapters per session which I could put down and pick up with not much angst.

There were pirates!
The protagonist is a female pirate!
She is a POC female pirate!
