What Members Thought

I have to say that I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book although I will admit that it has taken me way longer to read than I would have liked - sadly life gets in the way and for me to really get in to the story I have be prepared to ready read it in chunks (those who have read the story can spot the pun there).
Anyway I will admit that this was one of those books which I have known about for a long time but once I started reading it - then realised I knew next to nothing about it.

Good but not great. But I love that cover!

First thoughts: Wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be.
I love the cover of this book and you would think that it might be a bit more scary than it actually was and I think that is one thing that kept me from giving it a higher rating. Not only that as I did have a few other hang ups.
So Cas is a teenage ghost buster (he hates that term), he kills ghost for a living and people email him from all over with their ghost stories. He only kills those ghost who kill people and he gets a note with ...more

3.5 to 4 stars to this book. I decided on 4 on the end, because I really had a good time reading it, in spite of those of its aspects I found annoying.
The story kept me on the edge of my seat, and I always wanted to know more—about where it was going, what would happen to the characters—which is one of the more important things I ask from a book. I didn't care much for Cas at first, with his too-cool-guy spiel in his new school, but after a while, his point of view grew on me, and I felt at ease ...more

This was a pretty typical example of the teen ghost hunter genre. If you are expecting a scary book, this is probably not the book for you. There are some gruesome scenes, but overall it is not the story of a haunting, but rather the type where a group of teenagers take on a big bad evil monster. I liked the characters and I liked that the grown ups were not non-existent in the story. I also liked how Cas developed throughout the story from a loner that doesn't need anyone to someone that learns

It was a weird one for sure. I'm curious to one day read the sequel to see how it ends.

Very good. Liked the story, Anna's story was sad, not scary, and that was interesting to read. Cas I was of two minds about - A: male protag, yay! and B:I'm just not that into you. But ztill, he was okay, and I did enjoy the book.
