I read this more than a year ago, and since then I've had more time to let it settle and since then I've realized that this book... really isn't all that great. I couldn't quite put my thoughts into words as to why it didn't settle with me very well, but I found a very good and long blog post about it. I initially enjoyed it, but now with the giant fuss about it, I've really thought long and hard about this book and decided that I don't really like it all that much.

Even though I like this cover, I wish it reflected the story more than it does.
My Thoughts:
Everyone has problems, and no one's life is perfect. Maybe financially, family or health wise, everyone has their own issues and difficulties. In The Fault In Our Stars, the main character Hazel has her own set of issues. At 12 she was told she had cancer in her lungs, Hazel was told she wasn't going to live much longer. Getting another chance at 14 the tumor in her lungs shrunk.

I liked that the characters had a good attitude on life. Of course i was hoping for a happier ending. When Hazel thinks of herself like a bomb and wants to distance herself to help protect people, I liked how Augustus helps her to see how important relationships are.
Although it's morbid to think about death, i liked that they both were able to write an epitaph for each other.

Wow. Such a truely incredible book. I couldn't necassarily relate to the characters' situations, but I could understand why they said what they did. Some of their concerns and deeper-meaning conversations were things I'd considered as well. I loved the story, especially the part where it wasn't necassarily a happily ever after.
