The way Gale was tossed off that way? Okay, so I understand that only one of the two could be picked. I was beginning to think that no one would be picked, because Peeta was so mental and Gale was getting all weird. I wasn't expecting the amazing, quick transformation of Peeta into half-normal again. I mean seriously, it's just like suddenly, "I love you Katniss!" Where did that come from? Not months Totally not what I hoped for. I don't like Peeta, but I especially don't like him as "hijacked." The way Gale was tossed off that way? Okay, so I understand that only one of the two could be picked. I was beginning to think that no one would be picked, because Peeta was so mental and Gale was getting all weird. I wasn't expecting the amazing, quick transformation of Peeta into half-normal again. I mean seriously, it's just like suddenly, "I love you Katniss!" Where did that come from? Not months of treatment. So anyway. Back to Gale. To build him up as a caring, kind, honest friend and confident over the pace of two amazing books... well, you can't just go and burn all that up!! He's overly jealous. And then he just LEAVES. KATNISS. And Katniss doesn't care. Um, hello? That's your best ever friend walking away, the one you spent hours a day in the woods with? The one who was basically your only friend? Who used to be incredibly sweet and caring? Who always had your back? Well, I guess none of that matters in the end. Because Gale does transform. SC makes him into some heartless war freak, intent on destroying everything. Basically, no matter what team your on the dude goes insane. Or dead, if you were on Finnicks side (even though he was never really am option). And one more thing: its not as if Gale knew that his bomb would be used on Prim. Its just horrible of Katniss to blame him for that. Also, SC might has well have just never made Gale more than a friend. There was never any need for a love triangle! Because anything, even Gale's death, would be better than him just leaving like that. I hope she knows how Gale fans feel about that.

Okay, so the book did have some moments. But nothing compared to the ones in HG and CF. I guess the things that really made those books so great was the survival, the characters, the people who were sane and kept up the same personalities throughout the books... Take that away and all you've really got is another dystopian novel where a heroin saves the world. I guess the only way for me to keep loving this series is for me to forget everything that happened in Mockingjay and imagine my own little happily-ever after for everyone. Not that I anywhere near expected everyone to have a happily ever after. I knew people would die. But Finnick, Prim, Cinna, all those unnamed thousands... if Panem was all they ever had for a population, there really would be next to no human race left in the end. It was all depressing, and I should add into the mix of altered characters that Katniss changed too. She became weak. And the one thing Katniss is never suppose to be is weak. And she became kind of whiny, and uncaring, and she lost it for way too long in the end. And she always shoots people because apparently she has no regard for human life anymore, especially if they're from the Capitol, because she WANTS, she condemns, them to fight in a final Hunger Games! Which is cruel. Doing it "for Prim" doesn't make it okay. Altogether, she just became annoying. Especially in the last 40 or so pages. All she did was talk about how the whole human species should basically cease to exist because we're so evil, and destructive, and hateful... Once again, it only made me depressed! Everything about it was depressing. Just thinking about it makes me depressed. By the time the book was finished, I could nearly have had a breakdown I was Just. So. Depressed. I hate books that are all about sadness and destruction. It was like The Forest of Hands and Teeth all over again only worse because I'd waited 10 months for this. FOR THIS!!!

Altogether, a big fail and waste of time. The first books were so good, so AMAZING, that I could never have expected this one to be such a flop. Everything about it was wrong. ...more

I see that a lot of people were disappointed in some way, small or big... I wasn't. Even though I must admit that I was leaning towards team Gale, I still love Peeta, and I liked how he gained back his mind slowly and how it all played out.
This book had me from start to finish. I was hooked before it even came out, and found myself hanging on every word for dear life, thrilled at the twists and surprises. It wasn't ever boring for _\|~<*^• SPOILERS LIE AHEAD!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!_\|~<*^•

This book had me from start to finish. I was hooked before it even came out, and found myself hanging on every word for dear life, thrilled at the twists and surprises. It wasn't ever boring for me, but I was crying throughout the entire book-nonstop. I didn't stop bawling my eyes out until at least three hours after I had finished, and even now, I feel like crying just thinking about it... Okay, maybe I'm too soft, but thats not necessarily a bad thing!

I loved Finnick in this one. Like, if I loved him in Catching Fire, than in this one, he consumed my every thought in Mockingjay. He was tortured and angry and sad and confused, and then happy and full of joy and in love and married with a baby on the way, and suddenly... Poof, gone. He didn't have a pleasant death, either, which twisted my heart into fine knots, like the ones he tied to focus himself.

Katniss was... Frustrating, let's just say. She just refused to make up her mind, and she drove me completely insane at random and spontaneous intervals throughout. And she kept holding herself as completely responsible for every little thing, which, in part, she was, but all of this people were willing to die for her. And she sort of redeemed herself by turning around and killing Coin, because, let's face it, Snow was dying anyways, so why waste a perfectly good arrow and window of opurtunity if you've got one? Plus, Coin was heading down a path towards repetition of the past, so she did everybody the favor of killing her before that could happen.

Gale. Bloodthirsty, heartless, murdering Gale. I loved him, too. Even though he was unnecessarily cold in this book, it simply is not possible to hate him. I mean, sure, your mad at him for a few minutes, but there you are, five minutes later, crying over a bite to his neck that he received. I couldn't get enough of him.

I won't get into the rest, like Johanna, Annie, Beetee, Cinna, or Prim and such, but I would like to talk about Haymitch. When I read that he was momentarily sober, I was shell-shocked. Then, I realized that it was probably for the best. I mean, how's he going to be mentor for Katniss and Peeta if he can't function properly? After all, we will never be rid of the games, will we? Our life is a constant hunger games, where we are involuntarily sucked into a deadly arena with challenges, and only one should survive. Some moments with Haymitch in them were so darn cute, and many made me cry. He looked out for Katniss, and they had a sort of understanding of each other.

One bad thing was the end. First of all, I wanted more. Also, it seemed to me like she started to rush the book a bit... Not too much, not something most people would notice, but it all was a tad bit too undescriptive and unexplanatory for my liking. The epilogue could have certainly been longer, but it was an exquisite ending regardless.

Mockingjay was an overall pleasing and fantastic book, hooking me on the pages, getting me addicted to every different word as if it were a powerful drug-like morphling-, and filling me with emotions that I never knew I was capable of feeling, and never failing to impress me with every detail. Thank you so incredibly much, Suzanne Collins, for creating this trilogy for me to love and adore for the rest of my life and more. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and then some.

Mockingjay- the finale to the 2nd best series of all time. (Harry Potter is first!) This book was a little boring near the beginning, but it was so interesting, I couldn't put it down! Not as good as the first two though...
