Probably my favorite book ... have read it several times. Having grown up in the "deep South", I particularly like the relationship between the children as it reminds me of my childhood & the friends I had.
Just as good as the first time I read it ... if not better! I love the characters and their relationships. Atticus Finch ... what an awesome father & man!!

I just loved this book. It is about Scout's father defending an African American man against rape charges. It took place in Alabama around 1935. This book really made me think. There were three specific areas that I wondered about and researched.
1) One passage where Atticus is discussing the verdict of Guilty with his son, Jem. Atticus specifies that it is a fact that Tom was convicted. Jem insisted that it wasn't right though. Atticus agrees with Jem. I am also reading Les Misérables and came u ...more

A true literary great! I enjoyed this book immensely and would happily read it again.

This was the first time I read To Kill a Mockingbird and I really enjoyed it. I recently joined the Classics for Beginners group and found this to be a great introduction. I must admit that I did find it uncomfortable to read some of the racist terms within this book, but they helped stress the mindset of the characters and were not out of place. Harper Lee makes the reader feel truly engaged while reading this story.

Fabulous book!
