I really think I should have read this book and not listened to it. It was a little slow at times for me, and the humor was there but a little light. I think the message was special, and the countdown in days to the big event was a good way to transition from chapter to chapter. Miles, the protagonist, was a little dull for a lead role while Alaska was a little bit of everything and oh so interesting. I could easily see plain little Miles falling for her. Hard.

Looking for Alaska is SO GREAT! John Green is an absolute genius, he writes scenes in books that I don't know how anyone would put in words but he did it, man. He is so awesome. Alaska Young is probably one of my favorite fictional characters, she's mysterious, and beautifully sad. She's smart and hilarious and when she died, you were mourning her death along with Pudge and Colonel. When I first read it, I was very underwhelmed. I loved the snark, and the amazing characters, and the emotional roller coasters, but the book didn't hit me like I expected it to when I first read it.
But LfA grew on me, somehow, and my memories are much fonder. And I really adore this book.
