With all the hype and profuse praise, and in some cases hatred, towards this book, I've avoided it like the plague until now. The plot and world-building was interesting, but there was a vagueness of things I didn't like. Mostly with the description of people. Even Katniss seems vague and distant despite being the narrator. The present tense of the narration feels awkward to me compared to the usual past tense I run into. I suppose it's meant to live in the moment with Katniss, but to me I found ...more
