I'm not sure what I rated this book as before. Maybe 5 stars? Now I have my rating at 4 stars.

When it comes to this book, I felt like I remembered it being much much more exciting and mind-blowing in its reveals, but I still really enjoyed reading it despite that. When it comes to plot... It's not as much of it? It's hard to describe but it felt like most of the plot in this book was developed through dreams/visions/flashbacks than actualy events happening to Percy. It's not as much of it? It's hard to describe but it felt like most of the plot in this book was developed through dreams/visions/flashbacks than actualy events happening to Percy. Which isn't completely a bad thing, but it doesn't make it feel like nothing much happens with the protagonist since most of what he's doing is watching through these dreams and such.

Anyways, in my other reviews, I was talking about how weird romance is between half-bloods; I guess Riordan realized he needed to comment about that now when he explained away that the gods have no DNA so I guess inter-cabin romances/romances between half-bloods that don't share a godly parent is ok. (Still, kind of a weird work around but yeah ok lol). But I guess the romance is pretty cute in this and it's sweet.

I really like that we got to see Tyson a little more and he got to do some cool stuff like lead a charge. Grover felt like he was pushed on the side too much and I wished we had him to more. And as for the other campers... I just felt like since I only barely knew them by name and got some surface level descriptions of them, I didn't feel as much of the impact when certain campers died or made certain choices. Maybe that's been the problem since the deaths in Titan's Curse. Perhaps it's because these books are written for a younger audience, the length of them is shortened and so that meant less time to spend going into deeper characterization of the other campers. But I still feel like this is something that could have been improved on. (view spoiler) Sure Percy calls these other campers friends, but through the rest of the writing in the story, it feels like he never interacted with anyone else other than Annabeth and Grover as friends.

Anyways, I guess it was cool when we see how the prophecy is fulfilled and how the Oracle(s) play a role in everything. And I guess introducing Hestia is neat. Overall, still a great story and it just gives that vibe of those good movies I watched when I was younger. Not super in-depth with moral stories or having a message to tell, but just some really really fun fantasy and storytelling.

One big complaint I had for this reread, or audiobook, is that the narrator's voice kept changing for some characters and that drove me crazy. Or for some reason he voiced Persephone like she's speaking after she almost choked to death and her voice is hoarse and almost nonexistent.
