Book 5 and we are back to Lily Yu and Rule Turner, after our brief aside with Cynna & Cullen in Book 4.
Rule & Lily have gone to Halo, to gain custody of Rule's son, Toby. It's supposed to be a straightforward case in front of the Judge, so we know something is about to go wrong.
To unwind from the stress, Rule goes for a run and discovers bodies in the woods, covered in death magic. He notifies Lily, who is an FBI Special Agent with the magic division. Turns out the local law enforcement has the ...more

Lily and Rule are in North Carolina for Toby's custody hearing when they come across some bodies.
What I enjoyed:
* Liked getting more family info with Toby, his grandmother and eventually his mother
* The whole wraith thing was interesting (view spoiler)
* A bit more werewolf politics with Leidolf clan (probably even more to come next book)
* (view spoiler)

This was an excellent book with a great plot and well developed characters. You could really feel the connection between Rule and Lily. They are both struggling with their jobs and personal lives. You see how they strive to deal with the traditions of the Lupi world and the percieved notions of the human world. Overall I really wanted to love this book, but had a really hard time getting into it. I will definitely give this author another try to see if that changes.

Rule is terrific. What an alpha male! This was a great book and possibly the best in the series so far. The rules and regs of a werewolf pride (?) are fascinating. I can only imagine where Eileen Wilks is going to take this series next. Can't wait.
