J.D. Robb has done it again. What a terrific thriller!
A blast from the past for Eve Dallas. She was fostered as a child in Texas with a crazy, brutal woman (Trudy) who has a young son who did his best to help Eve when he could get away with it without his mother knowing. This was a great one. I knew who did it and why but I couldn't figure out how Eve was going to break the case. I was so worried about how she was going to deal with her past confronting her like that in the flesh. It was so hard watching her fall apart at the beginning, but my girl, Eve, is fierce! I also loved how Roarke supported her. She's still a bit prickly when it comes to depending on anyone, but she's coming around.

Eve has Christmas and compassion? Character growth with Eve. Happier Christmas than last year. Just after the clones, this was almost anti-climatic. Good, just not my favorite.
