A very different approach from her other books - Lily is much worse off than her other characters. I liked how she hyped up one character and totally left you going...WHAT with the actual killer. While the motive was kind of...uncreative…if you will, I did find it frustrating that Mrs. Harris took so long to tell you about Lily's "downfall". It was almost half way through the book before it was reveled. Other than that...it was a quick read and decent mystery. I like Lily a little more because s

For a cozy mystery, it’s pretty good and unexpected. Though, maybe it’s just me who just didn’t suspect the right perpetrator. I was surprised at the background of Lily Bard though, not what I expected being a cozy – it was dark & violent. However, it does explain her hermit-like life and personality very well. Overall, it was an enjoyable easy read with a hot guy, a nice next-door guy, and a strong but gentle guy, hhhm… she’s definitely generating some interest around the place!

I enjoyed the mystery of who killed Pardon Albee but all the time Lily Bard spent cleaning was boring as hell. The characters have the strangest names and they are all bizarre people. Though I did like the police chief, Claude Friedrich. It wouldn't surprise me if Lily and Claude had a relationship in future books. The interest was there but Lily was already involved in a relationship.

WONDERFUL series. One of the most human and unique heroine's I know of.
Trigger warning - there is discussion of past assault, including the plainly stated details of what occurred. It was part of what made the heroine who/where she is today, and has impact on the current events of the novel. It did not personally cause me problems, but I wouldn't want anyone to be caught unawares. ...more
