The story was very well done, and captured my interest from the very start. It was amusing in places, and somewhat shocking in others. I am glad I read it. It is a detective story, from the start, but it is the story of a 15 year old autistic boy trying to make is way in the world outside his safe places and along the way, writing a book as part of a school assignment. It is more than that, but you have to read it to find out.

This book makes me dizzy.
It was written in first person point of view, Christopher Boone, an autistic teen. But when I was reading it, I felt like I was reading of how & what he's thinking. I wonder if that's how they would write as well? I don't know much about autism but I guess this book makes me understand that there are just too many things that they absorb and they are continuously thinking so they really need to calm down and slow down. It's a pretty scarry place to be. ...more

This was delightful. I was really intrigued by the way Christopher's brain worked. And I felt so bad for him when the mystery was "solved". I wish the book didn't end when it did but I truly hope that it all worked out for him. I don't know about anyone else who read the story but I really felt like all the adults in his life except for Siobhan were extremely selfish. I was surprised he was as functional as he was! ...more

I have a brother who has aspergers and so I understand the condition and I think Haddon portrayed it very well in this book. The story focuses on a teenager called Christopher and his detective work to find out who killed a dog. Because of his aspergers, this book is quite funny to read but in a sad kinda way because you also feel sorry for him. The dog murder was not the only story in this book, you look at his family aswell and see how they struggle to cope with him at times. As it is written
