This is one of the books in Margaret Laurence’s Manawaka series. It’s a series of short stories, but since the main character remains the same, it is just as satisfying as a novel. In the first story we are introduced to 10-year-old Vanessa MacLeod and at the Brick House, the home of her maternal grandparents, we meet her extended family.
