This book changed my life. It is brilliant in its raw depiction of life among the caste system of India and the interweaving of people's life-journeys in that common struggle. It isn't pretty but life isn't always that way. However, it reaffirmed my belief in the inherent goodness of people.

Yes it's long, but at no point did I think something should be edited. Every rich detail is essential to painting this wonderful, but heartbreaking portrait of 1970's India.
