Loved it. To be honest, I am a huge Carol Shields fan and have not ready anything by her I didn't thoroughly appreciate and enjoy. Her writing is unpretentious, poignant, and real.

All lives are secret, and known only to the one living them. From birth till death we are an audience of one to the events that truly matter. This book fits into the vein of books that examine this line of thought, books like The Stone Angel by Margaret Lawrence, and Barney's Version by Richler. I enjoyed the sheer ordinariness of Daisy's life. The book was a fairly quick read for me. I thought the characters were true to life, and that Daisy typified her time.
