The back of the ARC describes Firelight perfectly, "Mythical powers and irresistible passion ignite" to make Firelight one book that I was so enraptured with, I read it in one sitting. I've always been intrigued with the mythology of dragons, but I haven't read a book that made me really fall in love with them until I read Firelight. Sophie's characters and her world building hooked from page one and left me wishing her sequel was already out.

Firelight introduces a whole new character in the paranormal world- a Draki. Draki's are descendants of dragons who can shift between both dragon and human forms. While the pride closely guards their secret and where they live, they can easily blend in with humans and no one would know it.

Jacinda's rare gift of fire breathing makes her a unique Draki who's excepted to be with Cassian, the brooding, hot, Draki Prince whom she was once close to. Now that she's closely watched by her pride, and doesn't have a say in her future, she yearns for freedom. Wanting to get away, Jacinda goes against the pride's rule and flies during the day. This not only puts her in warms way when Draki hunters spot her, but she endangers the whole pride. She also wouldn't have met the Draki hunter Will, who finds Jacinda's Draki just as fascinating as Jacinda finds him. What's even more surprising, is that Will protects her from the other hunters.

Jacinda's already lost her father. In order to protect Jacinda and not lose her to the Draki world as well, Jacinda's mom flees from the pride with Jacinda and her sister 13 yr Tamra. Living amongst human's isn't easy for a Draki and living with a mom and sister who can't under Jacinda's Draki needs is even harder. Jacinda struggles with her new life, finds herself at a new school and face to face with the hot Draki hunter Will.

Sophie's talent for writing romance makes for some amazingly hot chemistry between Jacinda, Cassian and Will. Will and Jacinda have an undeniable attraction that left the pages of Firelight smoldering. It's not only one of danger as she's a Draki and he's a Hunter, but there's something more to it. I was really drawn to it. That isn't to say there's no attraction with Cassian, but Jacinda fights it. She doesn't want to be with someone who she thinks rule over her. She yearns for her freedom and wants to be loved for who she is, and not what she can do. Personally, I think there's more to Cassian than how Jacinda portrays him. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of them together in the sequel.

With it's hot chemistry, a captivating world, and an amazing dragon mythology, Firelight is one book I'll be reading over again. If you're looking for a fresh paranormal book to read, I highly recommend picking up Firelight it releases September 7th. ...more

I loved the premise of Firelight. In a paranormal market that is inundated with stories of vampires and werewolves (not that those stories aren't great), it was refreshing to see a book about dragons. Sophie creates a wonderful world, drawing the reading in and weaving fantasy and magic into believable situations. I wish that we had learned more about the draki, their culture, and their talents, but this leaves something else to look forward to in the sequel.

Firelight was great! I really enjoyed it, though I don't know why it took me so long to finish it. it wasn't anything to do with the book. it was just that I was reading it, and then a new book came and I was like ohh, shiny new book. This book caught me from the very beginning. It starts off with Jacinda and her best friend, Azure, breaking the most important law of their pack: flying during the day. Jacinda is special in her draki pack. She’s a fire breather, the first in many generations. This book caught me from the very beginning. It starts off with Jacinda and her best friend, Azure, breaking the most important law of their pack: flying during the day. Jacinda is special in her draki pack. She’s a fire breather, the first in many generations. This instantly attracts her to the leader of the pack, whose son claims her for himself so they can become mates and create more fire breathers. Jacinda, however, does not agree with this arrangement, and hates how she is constantly watched and judged, so she tries to break a couple of rules here and there. After being caught, Jacinda’s mother decides to take Jacinda and her twin sister away from the pack and into the mortal world. Jacinda becomes sick as her mother tries to force her draki part from within her, but she refuses to let it go. She’s able to hold onto it through the one light in her world: Will.

I loved Will from the beginning. He saved Jacinda’s life, and he’s devoted and sweet. He’s also different from his family. Jacinda and Will seem perfect for each other. There’s just one little issue: Will’s family and Jacinda’s pack are mortal enemies. Jacinda tries to avoid Will, but finds she cannot, because she has to keep her draki within her, and strangely only Will seems to be able to help with that. I loved Jacinda’s independence and her strong will. Well, kind of. She definitely thinks for herself. I just don't think she acts for herself. She whines and complains, but never really does anything about it. Sometimes the book seemed a little repetitive.

This book is beautifully written and had me in its grasp through the entire length. I read it straight through from beginning to end and didn’t put it down once. Cassian, I think, is the most complex character. I don’t think he really loves Jacinda for who she is… but does he? He’s mysterious, and dangerous, and I don’t like him at all. I also question Jacinda’s mother. She seems rather selfish, or maybe she just doesn’t understand Jacinda’s true feelings. I was shamelessly rooting for Jacinda every time she defied her.

If you love dragons, strong female characters, and/or forbidden romances, this book is definitely for you. It kept me on edge the entire time, and I just couldn’t wait to flip the page and read what happens next. The ending left me slack-jawed and I really can’t wait for Vanish! ...more

Wow wow wow. This is one hot hot hot, did I mention hot book. The chemistry between Jacinda and Will is alive, it smolders away until it becomes a flaming rage.

Firelight is about the draki workd, they are descendants of dragons. Dragons who can shift into human form, the secret must be kept at all costs. The main character Jacinda can breath fire, this is rare, in fact the first in centuries. Living amongst humans, Jacinda starts to lose her draki side, which she is unwilling to do. OMG! It was so good I did not want to put it down. I don't know why I waited so long to read it. I remember the first time I saw the cover and read what it was about I knew I had to read this book. I got it for Christmas, but things got crazy and I just hadn't had a chance to read it. Finally I decided I needed to pick it up and read it and I'm glad I did. I loved the story line. Sophie Jordan did such an amazing job at bringing this story together! Her descriptions of the Draki were amazing! I could not put this book down!
