I enjoyed this story of Tristan and Zoe. There was much focus on Zoe being the heir to her father's title and estate. Rare indeed. Plus she was his illegitimate daughter, a fact well hidden from society. This is the basis for the story. She hires The Duke's Men to find her biological mother, a gypsy. Tristan, being an investigator, is given the job since he has gypsy friends and knows the language. He fights the attraction between he and Zoe, but to no avail, naturally. Zoe discovers the parents she has loved her entire live are not her natural parents. Her father is an Earl, the title is so old it passes to the oldest child regardless of sex. It is imperative no one know she is not the natural child of the Earl because she could not inherit the estate she has been trained to manage since she was a child.
