5 stars – Victorian/Historical Romance

I love these characters. I love that they are adults with intelligence, imperfections, histories, and humor, and I love their self-knowledge and the ways it increases throughout the book. I love the gender reversal of a virginal hero and an experienced heroine out to ruin him. I love the relationship between the brothers. I love the chiaroscuro of the book. I love the lucid grace of the prose. Sentimentalist that I am, I even loved the ending, which may seem too contrived for some readers.

This is the second in the Turner Series. I read this book first and really didn’t know what to think of it in the beginning. Sir Mark Turner has rock star status in Victorian England compete with rabid fans, as the author of a best selling book on Male Chastity. He is not married but considered “the catch” as he is titled, rich and handsome. Women are literally thrown at him from every direction but he remains virtuous and unwilling enlists scores of other men to follow his lead.

I loved the suspense through out this book. I loved trying to figure out why Jessica wouldn't drink tea, and I loved how Mark defended her after he found out about it all! I truly enjoyed the dialogue between Jessica and Sir Mark as well as between the 3 brothers. I didn't read the first in the series but I did read the Unlocked (1.5 in series) and have thoroughly enjoyed both books. I can't wait to read the first book and then 3rd in the series! Highly recommend this historical romance. The sto

Amazing book! Also, reading a fabulous romance while trying to work is difficult, but not impossible.

A great sequel to Unveiled. This one if about Sir Mark Turner, a 28-year-old self-subscribed virgin and popular author of a book about the virtues of male chastity. Of all the ironies, he falls in love with a courtesan, Jessica. The characters are complex and the storyline is quite thought-provoking. I loved it.
