Daniel Brown met Joe Rantz when he discovered that Joe had built Brown's pasture fence by hand at 75 years old. He is 90 when they meet. The visit delves into Joe’s crew racing and Brown is so intrigued he decides to write a book on Joe’s life and the journey to the Berlin Olympics. I'm not sure why I put off reading this book for so long. I ended up loving it so much. The story of Joe Rantz is very inspiring. He did not have an easy childhood or teenage-hood. He certainly wasn't given any kind of leg up in life. Highly recommend this one to everyone.
