The world of opera literature needs more books like Renee Fleming's. It's neither an exposé of backstage antics as one would expect from an opera diva nor a how-to guide for young musicians...she simply writes the story of how she got to where she is now. That's not to say it isn't insightful for the up-and-coming singer because it undoubtedly is, but one can see that Renee was born into her career in a way many singers aren't.
