I am not really a fan of this genre so my words must be taken with that thought in mind, but I didn't really enjoy this story. I read The Cask of Amontillado many years ago and the shock of that story has lingered in my mind. I found it really scary. This one though just irritated me. I wasn't shocked or afraid.

The antiquated language was all that marred this tale of an ancient family that has been dying out for a very long time. A premature burial instigated the last memorable scene. The lady Usher, the sister of Roderick had some sort of illness that rendered her apparently lifeless, yet the brother somehow knew that she was still alive.
