This challenging look at the aftereffects of slavery, told by multiple narrators with plenty of flashbacks is perhaps the most (*ahem*) BELOVED of Morrison's books. Nothing is made easy for the reader but those who persevere will be rewarded with richly developed characters and satisfying arcs for the main characters. Multiple readings would likely be rewarded.

Haunting. Unforgettable. This is a true story of a slave who is haunted, literally, by the legacy of slavery. Told by Toni Morrison in a lyrical, interwoven style, moving back and forth between points-of-view and periods of time, it is truly poetic prose and prose poetry. Brilliant.
