My Goodreads tells me that I've already read this novel, which was included in the second volume of the American Crime novels, but I had no memory of this at all, which is wild because in the first pages , a man tries to cut another man's throat with a switch blade and in turn gets half his arm chopped off by the bartender swinging a short handled ax.
