A sweet story of young star-crossed love that also manages to be creepy as hell.
Seriously, where were the YA books like this when I was in high school!!
Aside from graphic depictions of what it must be like to be chewed on by wolves, what upset me the most was the main character's parents. They were just awful! Not abusive, just criminally selfish, immature and neglectful. Not that I am a perfect parent myself, but I like to think I would at least know if my daughter were...you know...doing it wi ...more

Each time i read one of her books, i'm completely captivated and drawn in, and Shiver was no different. It was incredibly well written. I liked Maggie's take on werewolves and how she connected their changing to the weather. It was unique and wasn't something i'd read before. Wonderful.

Цял месец да я влача...определено ми е било "мега интересно" да я чета, а да не говорим, че през по-голяма част от случаите, в които се насилвах отново да я отворя се прозявах или се нервех на глупостите на главните герои.
Прекалено лигава книга за мен. Най-вече трябваше да чета за чувствата на Грейс и Сам и колко трагично е това, че двамата няма да са заедно още дълго. Сякаш ми пука?! Действието беше прекалено бавно, чак към финала нещо се раздвижи и слава Богу - иначе щях да Ебаси и тръпката.

Единствените персонажи, които караха обстановката в книгата да живне бяха Шелби и Джак и то когато по чудо се появяха, за да развалят идилията на двамата лигльовци, а за мен това беше винаги добре дошло. Нещо много и беше хубаво, не може така...трябва да им е гадно.
Финалът обаче ми допадна. Дори не ми е ясно защо ще пише още две книги. Това беше достатъчно. Защо иска да ни тормози с още? Колко лигави могат да станат тия двамата в следващите книги? Моля, този път някой да умре! Имам предвид по-героично от досегашните. Някоя трагична смърт ако може. Ама едва ли ще е на Сам или Грейс - първо: те са главни герои, второ: ще се радвам, ако умрат. Никво удовлетворение няма да изпитам.

This book came off as a surprise. I really thought when i rented it from the library that it was just going to be another badly written and over hyped book. I just picked it up out of curiosity. Now i won't say i'm bowing at the feet of the author since it had some issues, but i was really impressed. Impressed enough that i'm definitely going to be reading the next book in the series and hope they make a movie adaptation of it.

I'm torn about this book.... I liked it once I finished it, but the first three quarters of it was a bit hard to get into. I loved the premise, but some of the interactions, the dialogue, and the characters’ actions were a bit unrealistic – okay, I know ‘realistic’ isn’t a word to use when reading this kind of paranormal story, but some of the exchanges seemed unlikely and out of character for Sam (who is 18) & Grace (17). The one thing I just can’t get over: even when they both knew their time I'm torn about this book.... I liked it once I finished it, but the first three quarters of it was a bit hard to get into. The one thing I just can’t get over: even when they both knew their time was short, and that they were sooooo the centre of each other’s universe (he would risk death rather than be a wolf for good and live without her), she still just kept going to school and he kept doing his thing while she was gone all day. Ummmmmm.. okay. If the love of my life had weeks to go before he in essence “died” or disappeared and we both knew it, my priorities would shift dramatically I think, and I would probably spend EVERY moment with him – maybe it’s just me. And speaking of Sam, it just didn’t connect with him and had a hard time even picturing him, even by the end of the story – aside from the floppy dark hair and yellow eyes (and the fact that he thought the jacket made him look too bulky for his liking) I have no idea what he looks like. I did like the writing in general, but at times it seemed that the author was having the characters say things or react to a situation in some way because the story required it, not because it was the natural inclination of the character or the natural progression of the story. It seemed forced. Switching between the characters’ POV also got me annoyed enough to mention it, even though each chapter is labelled with either "Sam" or "Grace", I kept losing track and would have to verify who was ‘talking’. I didn’t think I would, but I did like the ending, even though it was totally predictable, and the last 100 pages or so were rather well done – almost (but not quite) made up for the rest of it…. I liked it overall, but I think I’m just too old or too cynical for YA books. ...more
