This novel is just okay. Nothing great, nothing horrible. It really read as a young adult novel for me, and since 216 other Goodreads users have shelved it that way, I'm not sure why it wasn't marketed as one. What a fascinating book! It was not what I expected at all, but I felt compelled to turn the pages to find out what would happen in this world. To explain, the earth's rotation has slowed very imperceptibly, but enough to cause each day to be minutes longer than the one before. This one is a slow burn, but I think that made me appreciate it all the more. There isn't some big disaster, zombies or disease outbreak, but rather a sense of foreboding that grows as the world in this book slowly changes.

Very good easy-to-read novel describing the future of civilization as the earth begins to slow in its rotation. The key to the book was the growth of a pre-teen and her reactions to growing up in a changing environment. However, one of the most compelling aspects was the descriptions of the changes in lifestyle and day-to-day living in a doom-filled environment.

Generally we think of the end of life as we know it as a function of a cataclysmic event -- this was a new twist - the earth was dying d

A very thought provoking, but disturbing story. The theme was a little too similar to other YA books.
