2 .5 stars down to 2 stars for Goodreads. This was one of my highly anticipated authors that I wanted to finally read from this year.I love historical fiction and romance, so a romance set during the Civil War sounded good to me. I was sadly disappointed. Not enough historical and way too much sex. I had so many books by Alyssa Cole on my TBR; I guess this is a way to shave off some books from my TBR. I extremely doubt that I will continue with this series.
A highly enjoyable historical romance. I don't think I've ever read anything set in the civil war era, and I really enjoyed the interracial relationship. Will definitely check out more from this series and author.

This didn't really land for me. I liked Elle but didn't really buy Mac's character. A lot of the history felt it was being shown to me rather than lived by the characters. But it was an interesting period and the writing flowed easily.
