Some books are so much fun to read that one wishes that they did not end. I liked this fantasy very much. Imagine living in one's dream world or is it an alternate reality? Liga's life is so bad that her imagination allows her mind to develop another world in which to live. Her father raped her repeatedly and made her abort fetuses. My gosh this book is dark and depressing. It is the type of depressing that sticks with you throughout the day. I loved it!

It's tagged many times as YA and I have to disagree with that pretty strongly. Sure, some mature teens would probably be fine with it, but I don't think it's suitable for the majority of teens.
I don't normally include spoilers in reviews but for those who need to know just what is in this book before they hand it off to their precious and innocent child, some of the topics

This was an interesting fairy tale style story of a family twined with magic and tragedy, with a girl whose life is twisted by abuse and rape escaping to a safer world, but one that is intrinsically false. And her daughters (see abuse and rape) also trying to make sense of the world.

I'm not sure I like the ending, as the story more stops than resolves anything. But then I guess that's life -- no one resolves anything. The characters all have ways to face the world that seem to be working, if onl
