How do you rate a book like this? To give it five stars for the courage of David to express his life of abuse at the hands of his mother seems to condone the acts themselves. But on the other hand, his resilience to live is a testament to his survival of this horrifying, horrendous abuse. This is a very disturbing story. I found myself unable to stop reading. I had to know what happened to this child. It really makes you stop and wonder if you could endure the torture of this boy's childhood.
