I haven't devoured a book this quickly in a while, school played a bit of a factor in that though.
It is disgusting to know that the subject matter of this book really goes on in the world, that there are young girls, children who are being sold like they are objects. Not only are they bought like a piece a meat they are sold to go into the sex industry. This is the first book I have read about child trafficking. There are so many reasons to read this book. The author researched the topic well by travelling to Nepal and India. Thirteen-year-old Lakshmi lives with her family in a small mountain village in Nepal. When her stepfather brings her to the town’s shopkeeper, she is told that she is going to work as a maid in the city. In reality, Lakshmi is taken to India. She has been sold into prostitution.
Lakshmi’s striking story is told in free verse.

Horrible but so captivating. I could not imagine any of this story happening to me and it was so sad. I wished the ending had of given more detail but I can understand why it didn't. It's such a sad sad book that I'll probably think about for years and years.
