Starts very slow. Historical setting was interesting but tedious at times. I'm glad that I listened to it and I will probably listen to the next book in the series.

Doctor Adelia is sent from Salerno to Cambridge to investigate the murders of 4 children. She is accompanied by a Jew, Simon, and her Moor body guard, Mansur.

Likes:
* The abundance of characters were confusing at times, but in the end, well done
* Simon's sharp mind
* Mansur's devotion
* I'm not thoroughly certain that I like Dr. Vesuvia

This is a wonderful story. I could not put it down at all. It was like CSI meets the 12th century. I really like Adelia (the main character). I like that she sticks to her guns and was not afraid to be who she was in a time period where it was not acceptable.
