While I like Sam I am totally routing for Adam!! This was a great book super well written and great pace. The ending is a bit rough especially if you have issues with drugging and forced intimacy. It is very well written but could be touchy subject matter for some.

Here we are at the reread and this book was a rollercoaster. I love the Fae and everything about them! They are among my favorite denizens of the tri-cities. Z and Uncle Mike are my absolute fav trouble makers. We get a bit more back story here and hints of who Z was in the old times. Always a delight seeing Mercy try to unravel his history.

This book took is to the Walla Walla Reservation and hints at mysteries to come. Still no real idea about Yo-yo girl, but I expect she will be terrifying. The Carian Crow Namiie is another Fae we met and I expect she has more to her as well. We also meet more Far who are of the less gentle variety. I expect there will come a day when Mercy has a faceoff with The Grey Lords. She is just that kind of gal.

No vamps in this book, which I am fine with cause they are not my fav. They are just so dark and angsty!

We finally get a resolution to the love triangle. Frankly I do not like love triangles and am happy this is not going to be a through line of the series. I had my preference and I was happy to find that Mercy and Sam came around to understand their feeling pretty much at the same time. Better to be found family. I always felt they had more brother sister energy. Adam is so yummy and I cannot wait to see they get closer.

As far as the ending goes this one is rough. Serious trigger warning in effect. It is handled so well as far as the aftermath and what everyone is going through. Mercy is a strong woman but for her head to have been messed with so much, it will take time to get past. The events in the end of this book to have impact on her psyche for several books to come, but she relies on her strength, gets therapy and leans on those around her when she needs them.

Also, this is the book where Ben started to be more than a jerk and I started to adore him as a fav side character. He also shows growth!!

I am kind of stalling on the next book as it is vampire heavy and really changes some things. The only thing in this series I will complain about is the focus on the vamps so often. But hey, I get it! ...more

Mercy rocks! Like any Urban Fantasy protagonist, she is badass and kicks major evildoer butt. Seriously, she doesn't exactly go looking for violence but when she dishes it out she can be pretty damn brutal, and rest assured they definitely had it coming!
What makes her special is that she has believable weaknesses and contradictions just like the rest of us. When she's really upset, this girl bakes brownies and watches bad movies.

I think the best way for me to describe the Mercy Thompson series is 'solid'. It is always good, although it doesn't make my heart sing like Kate Daniels does. This is the third book in the series and Mercy is at a cross-road with the love triangle between her, Samuel and Adam. She finds herself involved in a series of murders on the fae reservation and as usual gets herself into awful trouble.
