4.5 stars. Delicious and wealthy Simon Hunt started as a butcher's son and made a fortune in speculating.

This was such a wonderful story! I found myself sitting in my garage and listening to the audiobook long after I parked.

I enjoyed Annabelle's spunk. I was so glad to see her sticking to her principles even while knowing that she didn't have very many options in her penniless state.

My first historical romance in a long, long time. I really liked it. I'll read the rest of this series and others by the author. (I've already read two of her contemporary romance novels and fell in love). ...more

The first in a series of historical romances about four "wallflowers" who can't seem to attract anyone other than rogues or scoundrels. Finally, becoming friends, they plot to get the oldest of the "wallflowers" Annabelle a husband before the season is out. But can finding a husband be easy for a young woman with no dowry? Or will Annabelle end up either a spinster or the mistress of a wealthy young industrialist, Simon Hunter? ...more

For a impoverished Lady, Annabelle sure is shallow! You'd think she'd learn a little humility and come down off her high horse and she does...eventually. I don't know how Simon managed to wait that long! OK, so she's hot but she is nasty to him, I'd have told her where to go, but thankfully, Simon has patience and waits for her to grow up a little and become a decent person in the end. She's much easier to take in the later novels. ...more
