I like this book, but it just sounds too familiar. I've waited a year and a half to read this next book in the series, because I was so upset that Half-Blood was so much like Vampire Academy.

I'm so torn by this series. I think the story is great, and I am being carried along wanting to know what happens, but I simply can't stand Alex. Whereas most kick-ass heroines are sassy and clever with enough recklessness to do amazing things but also enough sense to avoid really idiotic situations, to me, Alex just comes across as a mouthy, immature, self-centred teenager.
