This is the opening to the Gamble brothers series. All of the brothers are somewhat introduced, and we learn why they happen to not be in serious relationships.

This one focuses on Chase. Chase and Madison have known each other since they were kids. Chase is best friend to Madison's brother. Madison has had a crush and/or been in love with Chase since she was a young girl. He hasn't reciprocated.

This was pedestrian, predictable and bordering on pathetic I'm afraid. I read the second book of this series first and, because I'm a bit OCD about reading series in order and completely, I had to go back to read the first. I had noted that the reviews were lukewarm for this one, but better for the second. And I totally agree. Madison was just...I don't know...a paper cut-out? I have never read anything by J. Lynn, also under her real name Jennifer L. Armentrout, so this was my first time. I haven't got many expectations about this story and I have to admit that I generally prefer longer books with fully developed storyline. However, this one was slightly above my expectations.
