I have read all of Sandra Dallas' fiction books now and really enjoyed them all. This one concerns a young girl in Colorado living near a Japanese internment camp during WWII. She is a sugar beet farm girl who does a lot of growing up during the time the evacuees live at the camp. She faces adult situations with grace and aplomb and learns firsthand about prejudice and hate. I liked it very much.

This is a good book, but not her best. I was disappointed to see so many parallels with "To Kill a Mockingbird."
