Past me gave this three stars but I don't know what she was thinking. For personal enjoyment level, I give it full five stars. Such a fun read! For my official rating, I back it down to four stars, because there were some things that bothered me in the telling.
First of all, it's over the top. That's part of the fun, so I don't hold it wholly against the book, but it does knock it down a teensy bit.

"Sink Me!" Another Favorite of mine. The story is a spectacular adventure, love, spy, political story. The Spy ring of the Pimpernel is infiltrating France and secreting out the noblemen and women set to die by the hand of the guillotine and the farcical moments in their adventures is fantastic! The fact that Orczy wrote the first draft on a train trip just fascinates me.

I'm really surprised that i love this book so much. It's very dry...but i like Margaurite's character. I like how she and Percy have the same pride issue and they wont confess their love even though their married. At least not until the end of the book, which is the best part. :)

This book was a lot of fun. I first was introduced to the story when my brother played Armond in his high school production of the musical a few years ago. When I had a chance to read it for a class last fall, I grabbed it. And it was quite worth it. It's very well written, and has a slightly different flavor than the play. If you've only tasted one, I recommend the other.

I really loved this book when I read it. Adventure and mystery stories are always fun for me and this was one of them. It's especially captivating because the whole time the reader is trying to figure out the mystery just as hard as all the characters in the book.
