This extraordinary, beautiful, magical book made my heart want to burst and then grow 3 sizes. An instant favorite and one I know I will be coming back to again and again.

The writing is beautiful, heartfelt and evocative, with the places as much characters in the story as their human counterparts. There's myth and mystery, love and tragedy, a nostalgia and sweetness that feels like a warm hug from someone you love.

I read this because of KJ Charles' review and I should have known she'd steer me right. God this was good. A little bit historical, a little bit fantasy and a heart-melting central couple.

There was a worrying moment at one point when I thought Archie was going to be too late, and I was quite prepared to hate Fox forever for putting me through that, but as it is I can go on and buy more of her books.
