WOW. Just absolutely stunning. Nothing makes sense, so don't worry about it and just kind of let your brain slip out of focus. Things start to make sense soon enough, and the story will sweep you away. ...more

This is one of those stories that afterwards lingers and makes you rethink how you see the world. It took me a while to get into the story but then it flew.
Captain Kel Cheris is disgraced by unconventional tactics; her chance to redeem herself is to host the mind of long-dead tactician Shuos Jedao normally this would subsume the original mind but together these two work on the siege and form a new alliance that will change things.
It's an interesting read and I'm glad I read it, I didn't continu

Interesting but I needed more characterization. The hand-wavy science never really gelled so all the time throwing buzzwords around was lost on me, and I could have used more insight into why I was cheering for the viewpoint characters.

Very unique sci fi about a captain pulled from her normal command to do something kind of crazy. Plus a ghost. But this is serious and violent and there’s a really complex world that’s not explained all at once.

Frustrating read, constantly throwing new poorly-explained mechanics and characters at you, more fantasy than scifi. However something about the world stuck with me so I'll try the sequel. ...more
