I really, really enjoyed this story of a pair of thieves who take on a job that lands them in hot water. They're set up as being the murderers of a king in a kingdom and they have to work out a way of getting away from the death penalty. Meanwhile they get caught up in a more complicated plot for the future of the area.

This was a light and fun read, although I picked three instead of four stars because I was expecting better women in the second half (because the sword and laser discussion hinted things got better in the second book) but I thought things were worse. The women had very little agency or common sense, and were constantly used as things for the men to rescue to demonstrate virtue.
