What Members Thought

This book is delightful... one blurb says 1984 meets Umbrella Academy but I say it's more Ministry of Magic than 1984, more whimsy than oppressive. This isn't being marketed as YA (the MC is 40) but reads like YA, and a feel-good read for acceptance for all beings, whether they are lgbtq+, magical, or cranky.

Linus is a social worker of sorts, sent to an orphanage to investigate if they are following the RULES and GUIDELINES. As you might imagine, there is more to learn than what he's been told.

Like a good cup of hot tea with a generous spoonful of honey.

Some of my weaknesses:

Found families
Safe homes for traumatized kids to heal
Dorky, drab Englishmen who learn to stand up and say "Good DAY, sir!"
Sweet, understated romance
Soft-spoken, intelligent, kind men with quiet smiles
Small children threatening terrible bodily harm
Ice cream
