Enjoyed this far more on a reread.
Haunting and sad, I did enjoy the book overall. However, the second half is much better than first. Unfortunately, the pacing is so uneven between the two halves that I found it badly impacts the overall effect.
4.5 stars
Highly recommend the audiobook narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
